Data Breach Alert: CNY Works, a Non-Profit Agency, Announces Potential Breach
Individuals who have used the agency’s services to find jobs may have had their information accessed. On December 21, 2019, CNY Works became aware of a potential ransomware incident. On May 27, 2020, after further investigation, the company discovered that certain elements of their clients’ data may have been affected. Information that may have been exposed includes names and Social Security numbers. While the agency does not believe the attackers viewed, accessed, or removed data, they are still notifying individuals about the incident out of caution.
What This Means
