Unauthorized Access: Push-to-Talk App, Zello, Announces Breach

Zello, a company known for its push-to-talk software, became aware of unusual activity on one of its servers on July 8, 2020. The mobile service has 140 million users and is utilized by first responders, hospitality services, transportation services, and family and friends. After conducting an investigation, the company learned that an unauthorized party may have accessed user email addresses and hashed versions of passwords. In a notice to customers, the company explained that Zello Work and Zello for First Responders customers were not affected by this breach. In response to this incident, Zello is requiring all users to reset their passwords next time they log into the service.
