Data Leak Alert: 4.6 Million Affected by Unauthorized Access of Neiman Marcus Data

Neiman Marcus has confirmed that approximately 4.6 million of its online customers have been affected by unauthorized access that occurred in May of 2020. The data that may have been obtained includes names and contact information, payment card numbers and expiration dates (without CVV numbers), and Neiman Marcus virtual gift card numbers (without PINs). Also, usernames, passwords, security questions, and answers associated with Neiman Marcus online accounts were impacted. Neiman Marcus reports, that of the total impacted customers, about 3.1 million payment and virtual gift cards affected were mostly expired or invalid. The company said, no active Neiman Marcus-branded credit cards were accessed. 

What This Means

When a site is breached, your personal information can be accessed by hackers and can be made publicly available on the internet. Any information of a person has a chance to be exposed, no matter how secure the site can be.
