Data Breach Alert: Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp Announce Alleged Breach
Both Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp announce they may have been breached. Quest Diagnostics stated that up to 12 million patients may have had their information compromised, including social security numbers and medical information. LabCorp says up to 7.7 million of their patients might have been affected. Potential compromised data from LabCorp include patients’ name, date of birth, address, phone number, date of service, provider, and balance information. LabCorp also announced that potentially 200,000 customers’ bank account and credit card information may have been breached.
What This Means
When a site is breached, your personal information can be accessed by hackers and can be made publicly available on the internet. Any information of a person has a chance to be exposed, no matter how secure the site can be.
