Data Breach Alert: IT Giant Cognizant Victim of Ransomware Attack

Cognizant discovered that on April 20, 2020, it became a victim of a ransomware attack carried out by international cyber criminals. Between April 9 – April 11, attackers accessed data from Cognizant’s systems. Sensitive personal information such as Tax IDs, financial information, Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, and passport information was accessed. Cognizant employees with corporate cards were also likely exposed during this attack.

What This Means

When a site is breached, your personal information can be accessed by hackers and can be made publicly available on the internet. Any information of a person has a chance to be exposed, no matter how secure the site can be.

What You Should Do
