Dave, a digital banking app, recently confirmed that it had been affected by a security breach. The company explains that this is a result of a breach at Waydev, one of Dave’s former third-party service providers. Information like names, emails, birth dates, physical addresses, and phone numbers were stolen by a malicious party. However, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, records of financial transactions, and unencrypted Social Security numbers were not compromised. In addition, this malicious and unauthorized party claims that it is attempting to sell Dave customer data. In response to this breach the company is coordinating with law enforcement including the FBI, resetting all passwords, and is in the process of notifying all customers.
