Data Breach Alert: Insurance Firm, Genworth, Announces Data Breach

On April 20, 2020, Genworth identified unauthorized access to an insurance agent’s online accounts, which provided access to documents containing personal information. Information that was accessed includes names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security numbers. While it is still unknown how many people have been affected, Genworth has disabled the agent’s user account to prevent further access to information.

What This Means

When a site is breached, your personal information can be accessed by hackers and can be made publicly available on the internet. Any information of a person has a chance to be exposed, no matter how secure the site can be.

What You Should Do
